Committee Roles
We offer a range of roles at both the Caulfield and Clayton campus.
President
Team: Executive
Tasks: Creates, leads and implements MMSS’ vision, mission, values and goals. Works with other executive members and their teams to ensure successful events and initiatives. Works closely with MONSU, MSA, C&S, the Monash Marketing Department (Caulfield campus) and Monash University sponsors. Represents MMSS to external bodies.
Vice President
Team: Executive
Tasks: Creates, leads and implements MMSS’ vision, mission, values and goals. Works with other executive members and their teams to ensure successful events and initiatives. Works closely with MONSU, MSA, C&S, the Monash Marketing Department (Caulfield campus) and Monash University sponsors. Represents MMSS to external bodies.
Secretary
Team: Executive
Tasks: Manages correspondence and administers the club. Organises committee meetings, including recording minutes, creating agendas, setting dates and booking venues.
Treasurer
Team: Executive
Tasks: Receives and disburses funds in accordance with finance regulations, ensuring the club is financially responsible. Keeps financial records in order and liaises with executives regarding budgets. Works with Professional and Social Directors to prepare event budgets and ensure payments are authorised. The Clayton Treasurer holds the responsibility of preparing for semi-annual audits and liaising with C&S where necessary.
Social Director
Team: Executive/ Social
Tasks: Leads the social team to create and organise social events. Writes formal event proposals, and sources venues, photographers and DJs for each event. Ensures social events are managed successfully, whilst practicing responsible behaviour.
Professional Director
Team: Executive/ Professional
Tasks: Leads the professional team to create and organise industry events. Writes formal event proposals, invites professional representatives and sources venues, caterers and photographers. Maintains relationships with industry representatives and the Monash Marketing Department.
Caulfield Communications Director
Team: Executive/ Communications
Tasks: Represents the Caulfield Campus in marketing decisions. Leads the communications team (particularly social media and graphics) in the maintenance of campaigns, website/ digital outcomes and social media.
Clayton Publications Director
Team: Executive/ Communications
Tasks: Represents the Clayton campus in marketing decisions. Leads the communications team (particularly publications) in the maintenance of email marketing, blog posts and the careers book.
Clayton Assistant Treasurer
Team: Treasurer
Tasks: Assists the Clayton Treasurer with various financial duties, such as processing reimbursements and event budgeting.
Social Coordinator
Team: Social
Tasks: Assists Social Directors in the organisation and planning of all social events. Promotes social events with the aim to attract new members throughout the academic year.
Caulfield Publications Officer
Team: Communications
Tasks: Works alongside the Publications Director to provide weekly EDMs, blog posts, and leads the publication of the Career’s Book. Assists the communications team in copywriting and proofreading marketing outputs.
Social Media Officer
Team: Communications
Tasks: Curates social media content on LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram and TikTok by creating content, scheduling and publishing.
Caulfield Graphic Designer
Team: Communications
Tasks: Designs MMSS’ promotional material, including event posters and social media/website graphics. O-Week designs are completed over the summer period. Skilled in Adobe Creative Cloud.
HR Manager
Team: Human Resources
Tasks: Ensures all committee members feel valued and motivated. Mediates committee disputes. Plans committee-based activities, such as social sport teams, bonding nights and retreats. Assists in the committee hiring process.
We take expressions of interest all year round by filling out the forms below. We also offer a general committee intake round in August for Semester 2. Alternatively, we offer the opportunity to apply at our Annual General Meetings, which are held annually in October.
